Tempe Center for the Arts Announces Arizona-based
TicketForce as Ticketing Service Provider
Mesa, Arizona - January 2007 - City of Tempe
awards TicketForce Ticketing Services Contract for Tempe Center for the
Arts to open in 2007. TicketForce, with corporate headquarters in Mesa,
Arizona, was awarded a multi-year renewable contract for ticketing
services for the new Tempe Center for the Arts (TCA). The award was made
in July of 2006, as a result of a city-issued Request for Proposal from
January of 2006. The City of Tempe is preparing to open its
state-of-the-art facility with a 600-seat auditorium, a 200-seat studio,
and an art gallery in the Fall of 2007. TicketForce's ASP-based solution
was selected among finalists Ticketmaster and Audience View.
The City of Tempe selected TicketForce's Private Label ticketing solution
which offers them more administrative controls than a ticketing agency,
without the additional costs and risks associated with hosting the
software and database internally. They will benefit from remote
business-class web and database hosting, offering them total freedom to
access the software from any location, without licensing fees and costly
maintenance and redundancy of the ticketing software and public web site.
Cheryl Dana, Business Analyst for the City of Tempe, says, "We already
have a number of servers for other programs to maintain; it´s a great
relief to not have the additional load of the ticketing solution in-house.
I´m pleased the City has made the move to an ASP solution."
Some cities have been reluctant to utilize a system where the hosting is
not done in-house. However, with the increased risks of hackers and the
potential for heavy traffic to take a site down altogether, the security
and stability of TicketForce's business-class hosting is becoming a viable
option, even for city-owned venues. "Matched with powerful administrative
controls and all points of sale utilizing a designated merchant account,
we are seeing a swing for municipalities to begin to make the move towards
an ASP ticketing solution – truly giving them the best of both worlds, "
says Lynne Smith, of TicketForce. "The City of Tempe is known for being
progressive- as the TCA itself demonstrates- so this choice is no surprise
to us."
TCA will be home to Actors´ Renaissance Theater, A Ludwig Dance, Arizona
Academy of the Performing Arts, Childsplay, Desert Dance Theater, Tempe
Community Chorus, Tempe Little Theatre and the Tempe Symphony Orchestra,
which along with other productions will yield ticket sales of 100,000
during its first year of operation.
