Every week, TicketForce brings you news on one of four industries: racing, sports, theatre, or music. This week’s #TheatreWrap honors the 50th Anniversary of the beloved Broadway production, Fiddler on the Roof.

In commemoration of this milestone anniversary, a benefit concert and gala for the National Yiddish Theatre-Folksbiene will be held June 9th at Broadway’s Town Hall, where Pulitzer Prize and Tony Award winning lyricist Sheldon Harnick will be honored. The production’s original producer Harold Prince, Harvey Fierstein, and theater critic Frank Rich will be the honorary co chairs of the event, known as “Raising the Roof.”

A cast of original, revival, and film cast veterans will be performing in the benefit concert, which is expected to be the largest reunion of cast members ever. Among the performers are Tony award winners and nominees, Golden Globe winners, and Emmy award winners.

Raising the Roof will also feature appearances by Bel Kaufman, the 103-year-old granddaughter of famed Yiddish author and playwright Sholom Aleichem, who wrote Fiddler's source material, Tevye and His Daughters, and Alisa Solomon, author of the acclaimed book, Wonder of Wonders: A Cultural History of ‘Fiddler on the Roof.’”
