The long awaited lineup for the most popular music festival has been announced. Headliners include Beyonce, Radiohead, and Kendrick Lamar. Each day patrons can see over 50 performers on six main stages, with a duplicate weekend to follow.
Tickets were available January 6th at 11 AM, and sold out in about 20 minutes. The festival is held at Empire Polo Club in Indio, California, which is about 125 miles east of Los Angeles. Since 2012, Coachella started a duplicate weekend to accommodate more patrons, but still continues to have sold out festivals every year since. The dates for 2017 weekends in April are the 14th-16th, and the 21st-23rd.
To combat ticket transfers and 3rd party sales, Coachella started using RFID (radio frequency identification) in 2013 for entry into the festival. The RFID wristbands allow festival officials to check people in quickly and safely, with electronic tracking and hot spots for patrons to check into different areas in the park on social media.
Coachella, alongside numerous musical acts, also hosts large-scale public art, multiple food and non-food vendors, and different camping options for festival-goers.
