TicketForce is proud to work with female dream team Georgia Paxos and Laura Strader, the behind the scenes act of the Canton Palace Theatre.
Georgia Paxos, Executive Director
Paxos began her career in Event Planning in Washington, DC before she joined the staff at the Canton Palace Theatre as Executive Director. Though it was her first time using a formal ticketing system, she saw a need for a user friendly solution that would give her access to all the reports she needed to analyze events, and also strengthen the Palace’s relationship with renters and promoters. She found that TicketForce was able to meet all her criteria and the Palace has been a client ever since.
It’s been 8 years since Paxos was hired as the Executive Director at the Palace, and she says that “no day and no event is ever the same, even those annual events with over 25 years of history in our building.” Under Paxos’ management, the Palace just ended its most successful year with over 51 ticketed events.
Paxos believes in working as a team to ensure each event is successful from beginning to end. She tries to make sure the team she works with is happy, and promotes a team-environment that provides everyone with the tools they need to succeed in their area.
As Executive Director of an historic theatre, Paxos is responsible for both the architectural integrity of the venue and the cultural role the Theatre plays in the community. She achieves the latter through partnerships that present cultural, entertainment, and educational experiences for the community.
Laura Strader, Membership and Marketing Coordinator
Before getting a Masters in Arts Administration, Strader was a dancer who wanted a longer-term career in the arts. “I realized that performing wouldn’t last forever, and I didn’t want to leave that world behind,” she says. A fateful internship at the Canton Palace Theatre during the course of her studies led to an eventual position as the Administrative Assistant in the box office.
Like Paxos, Strader recognizes the changing nature of the events industry. “No two days are the same . . .We have a great team at the Canton Palace Theatre that consists of not only full and part-time staff, but also volunteers, community figures, corporations . . .working with that many moving parts means things can change fairly quickly,” she explains.
Strader is now the Membership and Marketing Coordinator at the Palace, which, she says “encompasses a lot of things.” Speaking about the recent success of their annual event, “Dancing with Canton’s Stars,” modeled after the television show and normally their biggest fundraising event, she remarks on what made this year different. “This year we set new records with the funds raised and the stars got really creative in their performances. It’s a great feeling to be part of something that is not only successful financially, but also supported and enjoyed by the community as well.”
We're sure these amazing women will make great strides in their careers as exemplary #womeninticketing.
