Every week, TicketForce brings you news on one of four industries: racing, sports, theatre, or music. In this week’s #MusicWrap we will be discussing Bonnaroo music festival’s best moments of 2014.
Taking place in Manchester, Tennessee for four action packed days, Bonnaroo is one of the country’s most interesting music festivals. This year’s lineup was stacked with legendary artists from a variety of genres. Some of the biggest performers this year included some names you might be familiar with like Sir Elton John, Kanye West, Lionel Richie, The Avett Brothers, Arctic Monkeys, and Damien Marley, just to name a few.
Although there were memorable performances from all ends of the music spectrum, the ones that stood out to festival goers were from Sir Elton John and Kanye. Elton John wrapped up the festival, indulging fans with hits like “Levon” and “Rocket Man.” He also played a touching tribute to recently passed radio disc jockey Casey Kasem. According to Billboard, John began by saying, “Travel safely, my good man," before launching into "Don't Let The Sun Go Down on Me.”
Kanye West, who was joined by wife Kim Kardashian, sought redemption in his performance after his 2008 Bonnaroo mishap where fans had to wait until 4:30 a.m. before he decided to begin his set. Needless to say, festival goers were not impressed with that appearance. However, his performance this year drew a crowd approximately 80,000 strong, and is known as one of the greatest comebacks in Bonnaroo history.
Aside from the obvious amount of music heard over the course of the festival, there were delicious food trucks, a silent disco, pop-up movie theaters and many more activities available to attendees. Bonnaroo fans went into the festival this year excited for the amazing set list and even better memories, which is exactly what they left with.
