The TicketForce team is proud to showcase The Morris Performing Arts Center for this week’s client spotlight. Located in South Bend, IN, The Morris Performing Arts Center hosts a wide variety of events including music concerts, touring Broadway musicals along with family and childrens shows.

The historic Morris Performing Arts Center, South Bend’s premiere venue for live entertainment, holds both the Morris theater as well as the Palais Royale ballroom. The theater houses 2,564 seats and hosts an average of 90 shows per year.

This theater is listed on South Bend’s National Register of Historic Places and is one of the most beloved landmarks in the city. The Morris has a very lengthy history since it was built in 1922. It was originally called The Palace Theater, costing $1 million to build as part of the Orpheum Theater chain. At the time, it was the most modern theater in the entire country. However, as time marched forward and with the introduction of television into the family home, there was record low attendance rates so the Board of Directors voted to tear down the building. Luckily, a woman named Ella M. Morris saved the theater from demolition with an undisclosed sum and sold the building to the city for $1. The city updated the building and renamed the theater after its savior, Mrs. Morris.

The Morris was updated once again in 2000 and restored to the original decor from the 20s. Along with building renovations, the Morris Bistro Restaurant was added to serve a wide range of breakfast, lunch and dinner items. Since the renovation, the theater house has gone on to sell out many shows including country stars, comedians and Broadway shows.
