Every week, TicketForce brings you news on one of four industries: racing, sports, theatre, or music. For this week’s #TheatreWrap, we are excited to announce that the legendary duo Penn & Teller will be returning to Broadway.
Over the past 40 years, Penn & Teller have become famous for their magic and comedy acts. First joining forces in San Francisco during the 70s, the two put their own spin on the traditional magic show by combining comedy with mind-boggling tricks. After much success, they decided to head across the country to New York and try their hand at the big time.
Their first show, called “Penn & Teller Go Public”, was off Broadway but due to its popularity, they were able to move onto Broadway 2 short years later. They made their Broadway debut back in 1987 but have not been back since 1991.
According to a production spokesperson, this summer’s show will be self-titled featuring a mix of stage magic from their Las Vegas show at the Rio and classics from their repertoire. This show will be taking place at Marquis Theatre located inside the Marriott Marquis Hotel on Broadway which houses over 1,600 seats. The production will run for just 6 short weeks.
Be sure to keep an eye out for the magic-filled show this summer in New York – you won’t want to miss out!
