As the holiday season approaches, brands all over are launching fun holiday contests. We hope that our compilation of the top four digital holiday contests will help get your gears turning and thinking of ideas to use for your organization.
Coca-Cola’s “Sweater Generator” contest is sure to put a smile on just about anyone’s face. The tacky holiday sweater is a holiday staple – so why not create a contest around it?! Coca-Cola is allowing fans to design their very own holiday sweater and enter it into the contest to win that sweater – handcrafted by loving machines.
The Container Store is holding a “Merry Pinterest Sweepstakes." Participants must provide their email address and Pinterest username, then follow @containerstore on Pinterest and create a pinboard using items from the Container Store’s “Stocking Stuffers” board. On December 1, one winner will be chosen to win everything in the Container Store’s stocking stuffer catalog – cool, right?!
CB2’s #ohgnomeyoudidnt contest utilized a printed catalog to engage with fans. Fans were asked to count every disco gnome hidden in the November catalog, then write on CB2’s Facebook wall with the number of disco gnomes they found and the hashtag #ohgnomeyoudidnt. On November 18, one winner who counted all of the gnomes was selected to win a $500 gift card to CB2.
Lululemon Athletica isn’t necessarily running a contest, but it is creating a ton of buzz around its popular active-wear brand. The #NoHumbug Challenge invites fans to follow a calendar of sorts that encourages them to do one nice (or fun!) thing a day. For example, the challenge for day 29 was to “give the person behind you a little VIP treatment and send them to the front of the line.” This has not only encouraged people to be kinder around the holidays, but it has encouraged people to share the challenge all over social media.
