America’s largest polo event is returning to the Valley! The Third Annual Scottsdale Ferrari-Maserati Polo Championships: Horses and Horsepower will take over WestWorld of Scottsdale on November 1st and 2nd. With an expected attendance of 15,000 people and an expanded two-day event schedule, this event will be bigger and better than ever!
On Friday, stop by for an all-star match at 4:00 p.m. followed by an introduction of this year’s players at 5:30 p.m. To end the night, Phoenix Fashion Week will present a Sunset Equestrian Fashion Show at 6:00 p.m.
The festivities will continue on Saturday when gates open bright and early at 10:00 a.m. Attendees will get to experience much more than great polo – they will also get the chance to enjoy a sneak preview of the 2014 Arabian Horse Show as well as the world-famous Barrett-Jackson 2014 Collector Car Auction.
The first match between Work to Ride and the University of Virginia will begin at 11:00 a.m. At 1:00 p.m., Battle of the Sexes will kick off with a matchup between Women’s All-Star Team and Arizona Polo Club (men). Sunny Hale, currently ranked the #1 female polo player in the United States, will head the Women’s All-Star Team.
The final and most highly anticipated event will take place at 3:00 p.m. when the U.S. Military Polo Team takes on the Clogau Wales Polo Team (United Kingdom). Jeff Hall, one of the best polo players in the world (we’re not kidding!) will captain the U.S. Military Team.
“I can’t wait to play at Scottsdale, which is turning into a premiere tournament for polo players,” said Hall. “We look forward to facing off against the Clogau Wales Polo Team — it should be an action-packed match and amazing weekend. I’ve read about the Scottsdale Polo Championships and want to experience it for myself. Polo is an intense sport and it’s great to see it played in the Southwest, which is a perfect location because of the unbeatable weather.”
