When people look back on 2014, they will remember the Seattle Seahawks’ Superbowl victory, the summer blockbuster hit Guardians of the Galaxy, Joan Rivers, and the Ebola virus. But will they remember what a fantastic year it was for apps? Probably not, but they should.
One of the top apps this year is IFTTT, a.k.a. “If this, then that.” This app makes it easy to program your phone to do something really specific. Need a text notification when you get an email from your boss? Done. Want the latest weather update when you check your phone in the morning? Done. Want to automatically call your Ex on his or her birthday? Hold off on that. The idea is that if you need help multitasking or just plain tasking, this is the app for you. It’s really intuitive. Not to mention how much fun it can be to explore the possibilities.
Another app that makes everyday life so much easier is called Slice. It will make this Christmas shopping season less stressful, no doubt. Slice corresponds with your email to give you updates on all of your shipping information and order confirmations. No more typing the 19-digit confirmation codes that feel like you’re retaking high school algebra. This app shows you when you should expect your packages, when they are out for delivery, and when they have been delivered.
